Alea'sha receives her assignment, and meets Ezra.

At the roof of the world, in a place called Winterspring, the snow lasts year-round. Icy caverns and sprawling canyons of snow defy travelers to do their best, and chilly conditions threaten the lives of those who go unprepared.

Summary:
Zul'Houngan, Ezra and Alea'sha explore the ruins of Bael Modan on behalf of the dwarves.

"Well... what's in there is troggs," explains the dwarf guide, when pressed on the locked door. "They kept comin' after us in the night an' we hadda put the door up ta stop 'em."

"Then you won't mind if we inspect it?" asks Kor'ness Sungrazer, the lead ambassador for the Horde, raising an eyebrow. The guide looks uneasy. "Aye, but it's risky," he says. "Ye understand, we don' want anyone sayin' we killed a bunch of ye when it was the troggs did it."

Once again the Horde expedition ventures into the caverns or Bael Modan, and once again they are beset by the caverns' native inhabitants, the troggs. Two of them are sitting around a fire as they enter the cavern, and as they issue their guttural battle cries, a third appears from a side tunnel, waving its own stone club.

Calling the aura of fire to his hands, Ezra releases a blast of flame at the leftmost trogg.

The giant double doors open onto a vestibule of green marble... or some other stone resembling marble, possibly. Thirty-foot tall archways open to the left and right, and high benches - and perches - sit at the edges of the room. Engraved on the back wall of the room is a mass of runes - or rather two masses. The upper half seems to use the same indecipherable pattern of the lintel over the preceding door, and the other half - "It's draconic!" exclaims Chomsky excitedly.

Summary:
The party speaks with a Titan artifact, and several dwarves develop an unusual aquatic curse.

The thirty-foot-tall stone statue is clearly humanoid in form; if scaled to normal humanoid height, it would still have an impressively large build. Indeed, it could almost be seen as a representation of a giant dwarf - or more likely, of a Titan. It regards the adventurers impassively, and radiates no air of menace, or friendliness, or indeed anything else; having spoken its greeting in Titan, it is simply waiting patiently for a response.

Summary:
Ezra discovers an ancient secret of necromancy

A week has passed since Jonah and his men arrived from Theramore, and the relief squadron of paladins and priests of the Holy Light have completed the much longer journey on horseback, with fresh orders for Jonah and his men. Whatever these orders are, they are to take Jonah away from Bael Modan, for he pays his respects to the defenders of the Museum and takes his leave.
